10 weeks + 10
million pounds = RecycleMania Success
 |
WasteWise partnered with the
RecycleMania competition for the first time this
year. Over a 10-week period, 47 colleges and universities
across the United States recycled more than 10
million pounds! The competition between the schools
was tight up until the end, but the recycling
champions were Miami University in the Per Capita
competition-recycling a total of 66 pounds per
student over the 10 weeks-and California State
University San Marcos with an overall total of
44 percent in the Recycling Rate competition.
Congratulations to all the schools that participated
in this successful event and contributed to diverting
such a large amount of waste from disposal.
For more information and results,
please visit the RecycleMania
Web site.

Cardboard Boxes
Available
Subaru of Indiana would like to
get rid of some non-returnable cardboard boxes that
its supplier will not take back, and the company cannot
find another use for them.
The material is a thick, gaylord-style
box with wooden supports in the corner. Each one weighs
21.5 lbs. The dimensions are 48" X 42" X 20".
If you'd like these boxes for reuse,
please contact the WasteWise Helpline at (800) EPA-WISE
(372-9473) or e-mail at <WasteWise@icfi.com>.
