For
those of you looking for an activity on and around
Earth Day, we would encourage you to participate
in the following two EPA-supported events:
Pass
It On Week
April 16 to 23, 2006
The goal of EPA's
Pass It On Week is to keep usable computers
operational by donating them to others. Reusing
old computers gives people access to technology
who might not otherwise be able to afford it,
helps use materials wisely, and keeps computers
and other electronic equipment out of landfillsall
helping to protect the environment.
You
can participate in Pass It On Week by planning
a computer collection event in your local community,
within your company, or by donating your unused
computer to an existing reuse-focused event or
organization.
Please
go to the Plug-In
To eCycling Web site to check out tools to
help you reuse, including the Pass
It On video featuring Administrator Steve
Johnson with five Plug-In partner companies.
100
Percent Day
Earth Day, April 22, 2006
EPA is supporting this
nationwide event developed by the Computer Reuse
and Recycling Coalition as a part of Pass It On
Week.
This effort aims
to collect 100,000 computers throughout the United
States on Earth Day. For more information, please
go to the 100
Percent Day Web site or contact Willie Cade
at <Willie@PCsforSchools.org>
or (800) 939-6000.
