Thanks!
WasteWise wants to thank all the partners who submitted annual data and applied for awards this year. We received a lot of good information on the various waste reduction activities that partners undertook in 2004. Your annual data are available for review in the Electronic Reporting (This feature is currently unavailable) section of the WasteWise Web site,* so that you can track your progress over the upcoming year. Keep up the good work!

Upcoming Events

  • WasteWise Annual Conference—October 24-25, 2005
Join us to celebrate our partners' success! This two-day conference will include sessions exploring how WasteWise is contributing to the goals of EPA's Resource Conservation Challenge. There will also be awards ceremonies and other exciting events. Invitations will be mailed later this summer.

  • Climate Partner Forum—Date TBA
Want to understand the connection between climate change and waste? Stumped on how to communicate this message and your waste-related greenhouse gas emission reductions to upper management, employees, and the general public? This partner forum aims to answer all these questions and more. This teleconference, with special guest speakers, will be held this summer. Announcements will be made in upcoming eBulletins and the Partner Forum page on the WasteWise Web site.*

Partner Spotlight
In addition to their successful waste reduction efforts, many WasteWise partners also achieve outstanding results in other areas of environmental stewardship.

Staples, Inc. participated in EPA's Plug-In to eCycling program by sponsoring a pilot take-back program at its retail stores located in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and from commercial customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The company used its existing product distribution network to collect and recycle more than 100,000 pounds of electronic equipment during a six-week period in 2004 from May through July. For more information on this pilot program, please see the Final Report Exit EPA.

If you have implemented an innovative approach to waste management or other environmental problem and would like to be featured on the Partner Spotlight page or eBulletin, please contact the Helpline. Please note: featured activities must be waste-related; not all activities will be featured on the Web site.
