There are many ways endorsers educate their members and constituents
about WasteWise and waste reduction. To learn more, see the activities
listed below and the case studies featuring South Carolina Department
of Health and Environmental Control and the City of Clifton, New
Jersey on the Publicity and Recognition
page. For more assistance, contact the WasteWise Helpline at (800)

Suggested Activities of WasteWise Endorsers
The following are some suggestions for ways you can promote the
program and encourage others to reduce waste:
- Conduct a WasteWise membership drive. A membership drive
can be as simple as educating your members or constituents about
WasteWise and the benefits of waste reduction. How you do this,
electronically, by mail, or face-to-face, is completely up to
you.
- Feature WasteWise in your publications. Included in your
endorser kit is a sample newsletter article and press release.
You can tailor these pieces to your specific situation or call
your WasteWise representative to help you develop new materials.
- Offer WasteWise presentations at conferences and meetings.
WasteWise can supply slides and information packets for you to
hand out, and WasteWise staff may be available to speak at your
events.
- Sponsor a waste reduction awards program. Offer awards
to organizations that have made substantial progress in reducing
solid waste. If you already have an environmental awards program,
consider giving applicants credit for being WasteWise partners.
- Distribute WasteWise publications. Pass WasteWise publications
on to your members or constituents or maintain a technical library
for them to consult as needed.
- Advertise your support for WasteWise. Issue a press release
announcing your endorsement of WasteWise, maintain a WasteWise
page on your Web site, or provide a link to the WasteWise home
page.
- Use the WasteWise logo. Your endorser kit contains guidelines
for using the WasteWise logo. Use the logo on your Web site or
in publications that discuss WasteWise.
- Provide technical assistance. Offer free waste assessments,
on-site visits, or other forms of technical assistance. WasteWise
can provide you with materials tailored to specific industry sectors
to help you direct your message.
- Recognize WasteWise partners. Publicize and congratulate
your members and constituents when they join the program and inform
them of other members that have joined.
