What is the WasteWise Challenge?

The WasteWise Challenge program is designed to help partners expand existing waste reduction programs and adopt new strategies proven most successful by other partners. Each Challenge focuses on a specific material or product type. The first Challenge focused on transport packaging, while the most recent Challenge targets construction and demolition (C&D) debris.

Why should I participate?

By pledging to the WasteWise Challenge, your organization can get assistance from WasteWise on implementing waste reduction activities targeting a specific material or product type and potentially earn recognition as an environmental leader.

What will I do as a Challenge participant?

When you pledge to the Challenge, you will identify waste reduction goals specific to a selected product or material and work toward implementing them. You will then include any results from your Challenge activities in the WasteWise Assessment Form that you submit each year for your partnership requirement.

Does this mean WasteWise is changing its program requirements?

No. Participation in the Challenge adds nothing to existing program requirements. You can include any goals you establish through a Challenge pledge as part of your other WasteWise goals. If you already have WasteWise goals, you may change or add to your existing goals to participate in the Challenge.
