The
Emissions and Generation Resource Integrated Database
The Emissions and Generation Resource Integrated Database (E-GRID)
is a comprehensive source of data on the environmental characteristics
of all electric power generated in the United States. An integration
of 23 different federal data sources, E-GRID2000 provides information
on air pollutant emissions and resource mix for individual power
plants, generating companies, states, and regions of the power grid.
The data are expressed in terms that allow direct comparison of
the environmental attributes of electricity generation at any level.
Electric Power Research Institute
The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) is a non-profit energy
research consortium for the benefit of utility members and their
customers. EPRI's Environmental Division works to address strategic
issues such as climate change, regional challenges such as watershed
management and protection, and facility-specific needs such as multimedia
emissions control. The environment and health section of EPRI's
Web site includes information on topics such as climate change,
groundwater protection, soil issues, and toxics characterizations.
American Public Power Association
The American Public Power Association (APPA) is the service organization
for the nation's nation's more than 2,000 community based, locally
controlled, not for profit electric utilities. The environmental
issues portion of the site includes information on current environmental
issues pertaining to the industry and access to APPA's environmental
resource center.
Energy Efficiency and Renewable
Energy Network
A comprehensive resource for DOE'S energy efficiency and renewable
energy information, plus access to more than 600 links and 80,000
documents.
The Utility
Connection
The Utility Connection provides links to 4,032 electric, gas, water
and wastewater utilities, state and regional utility associations,
organizations, news, magazines, utility financial resources, and
related state & federal regulatory and information sites. The
site includes information on conservation
and renewable resources for the electric & gas utility industry.
EPA's Comprehensive Procurement
Guidelines (CPG)
This Web site promotes the procurement of products made with recycled-content
materials. It provides information on CPG and EPA's Recovered Materials
Advisory Notices, which recommend recycled-content levels for CPG
items. This site also contains a list of manufacturers, vendors,
and suppliers of designated products; fact sheets; buy-recycled
news; and related links.
EPA's Environmentally
Preferable Products Program
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) is a federal-wide program
that encourages and assists Executive agencies in the purchasing
of environmentally preferable products and services. This Web site
contains guidance and tools for initiating an EPP program, case
studies, a list of resources and upcoming events, and an open forum
to encourage discussions of EPP issues.
EnergySTAR

This Web site provides resources and interactive tools to determine
your current energy and financial performance and estimate your
potential for improvement.
EPA's Green
Buildings Web site
This Web site offers information on green building materials, water
and energy conservation, and sustainable development.
WasteWise:
Resource Management
Unlike traditional solid waste service contracts, resource management
(RM) compensates waste contractors based on performance in achieving
your organization's waste reduction goals rather than the volume
of waste disposed. As a result, RM aligns waste contractor incentives
with your own goals as you both explore innovative approaches that
foster cost-effective resource efficiency through prevention, recycling,
and recovery.
EPA's
Life-Cycle Assessment Web site
This Web site's purpose is to promote the use of Life-Cycle Assessment
(LCA) to make more informed decisions through a better understanding
of the human health and environmental impacts of products, processes,
and activities. LCA provides a framework for identifying and evaluating
environmental burdens associated with the life cycles of materials
and services in a "cradle-to-grave" approach.
EPA's
Acid Rain Program
The overall goal of EPA's Acid Rain Program is to achieve significant
environmental and public health benefits through reductions in emissions
of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), the primary causes
of acid rain. This Web site presents both traditional and innovative,
market-based approaches for controlling air pollution. The site
also provides links to information on emissions trading, climate
change, energy efficiency, and pollution prevention.
EPA's
Global Warming Web site
This Web site focuses on the science and impacts of global warming
and on actions by governments, corporations, and individuals that
help address climate change issues. The site also features climate
change related news, events, publications, reports, presentations,
and links to other sites.
EPA's Clear Skies Initiative
The Clear Skies Initiative sets strict, mandatory emissions caps
for three of the most harmful air pollutants -- sulfur dioxide (SO2),
nitrogen oxides (NOx), and mercury. Clear Skies will cut power plant
emissions of these pollutants by 70 percent, eliminating 35 million
more tons of these pollutants in the next decade than the current
Clean Air Act. This Web site provides an overview of the Clear Skies
Initiative, air quality and health benefits, regional air quality
summaries, and other technical information.
